Peripheral Arterial Disease

The first stage of peripheral arterial disease – PAD, (Intermittent Claudication) is symptom-free. A high-definition angiography of the pelvis and legs – that is to say a precise image of the arteries in pelvis and legs – can provide information about the first indications of this insidious disease. If diagnosed early enough, the course of this disorder can be stopped completely with the appropriate treatment.

The PAD prevention programme is recommended for anyone

  • Who tends to suffer from arteriosclerosis in general. In about 95% of all cases arteriosclerotic changes cause the PAD.
  • Who suffers from a metabolic syndrome. There is a higher risk of suffering from PAD if the patient also suffers from diabetes mellitus, is overweight, has high blood pressure and a fat metabolism disorder.
  • Who already has the first signs of the typical PAD symptoms.
  • With a family history of vascular disease (e.g. arteriosclerosis). Smokers are particularly at risk.

What is special about DiVoCare’s PAD prevention programme?

Flow Analysis:

DiVoCare has excellent equipment at its disposal, in fact the best that is available for vascular diagnostics at the moment. Our 3.0T MRI unit is state-of-the-art equipment.

The MRI unit, which is radiation-free, shows how the blood from the vessels in the pelvis, thigh and calves branches out into the peripheral areas. The time taken for this to happen provides detailed information about the current state of the blood vessels.

Detailed Resolution:

Our 3-Tesla MRI unit provides images of the vascular system with millimeter precision – from the major arteries to the peripheral areas. Abnormal vascular changes can be clearly located. In special cases a 3D CT (64-row technology) can be used.
